More attending A&E across Worcestershire as pandemic fears start to recede

Bromsgrove Editorial 20th Jul, 2020   0

ANALYSIS of NHS England A&E attendance numbers shows visits to emergency departments for minor injuries increased by between 58 per cent and 104 per cent in June 2020 compared to April 2020.

London, the Midlands and the north west were found to have the highest number of attendances, while the south west saw the biggest jump.

During lockdown, just one in five people with a minor injury attended A&E for their injury, with the reluctance to do so down to not wanting to add any additional pressure to the NHS.

In June alone, monthly A&E figures showed NHS England London, NHS England Midlands and NHS England North West had the highest number of A&E attendances within minor injury units and walk-in centres – accounting for 203,805 of all 363,816 A&E minor injury attendances.
