A MAN had to be cut free from a car yesterday evening following a crash on the A441 in Alvechurch.

The collision, involving three vehicles, happened at 5.38pm.

Two of the vehicles left the carriageway and one ended up on its roof.

Two fire crews from Redditch were sent to the scene and used specialist cutting equipment to free the trapped patient.

There were three people hurt – a man and a woman suffered minor injuries and were discharged at the scene and a man with a serious injury was taken to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed there were two ambulances, two paramedic officers, a critical care car and an off-duty doctor.

There was also an off-duty nurse at the scene looking after the patients.

Witnesses or anyone with any information should call police on 101.
