Lot's to enjoy as Bromsgrove Festival enters third week

THERE will be something for everyone as Bromsgrove Festival moves into its third week.

Between 10am and 4pm tomorrow (Saturday), Avoncroft Arts Society will showcase its activities at its Redditch Road base. Admission is £1 per person and a number of workshops will be on offer, enabling people to create a piece of art. Visit avoncroftarts.org.uk or call 01527 833829 for more.

The Avonbank Brass band, based in Evesham, will be the latest to perform at the Sanders Park Jubilee Bandstand. People are urged to take along chairs, a blanket and a picnic for the Bands in the Park event between 2.30pm and 4.30pm on Sunday, July 9.

‘Housman! A celebration with music and poetry’, presented by BBC Midlands Today’s Joanne Malin, takes place at Bromsgrove School on Monday, July 10. The extravaganza, to celebrate 50 years of the Housman Society, starts with a reception at 6.30pm and the concert at 7pm.

The Bromsgrove Summer School takes place between 10am and 4.30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, July 11 to 13. Each day will be at a different venue with a variety of subjects, such as the history of Bromsgrove School and a look at churches and architecture.




The latest Festive Classics event brings ‘Music for Dance’ to Avoncroft Museum’s Geusten Hall on Wednesday, July 12. Well-known local violinist Shulah Oliver will lead the Selina Bella Strings Quartet. Tickets are available for lunch and the concert or just the concert. ‘Behind the Mics’ at Bromsgrove Sporting’s Victoria Ground at 7.30pm on Wednesday, July 12, will see renowned sports broadcasters Jim Rosenthal and Pat Murphy and former England test cricketer Ashley Giles, recall the highs and lows from their long careers in the latest Bromsgrove WORDS event. Former Ocean Colour Scene bassist Dan Sealey takes centre stage at Bromsgrove Folk Club at 8pm on Thursday, July 13, at Catshill Social Club. Tickets are available on the door – £8 for members, £10 for non-members and £4 for those under 25.
