AN ABNORMAL load more than three metres over its stated length was stopped by officers on the M5 in Worcestershire.

Officers from Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG) made the discovery as part of Operation Nightstare at Frankley Services.

When asked, the driver produced a movement order – the document needed to authorise the movement of large loads on the UK’s roads – which had been altered and back dated.

“This is fraud and the load was prohibited,” a CMPG spokesperson said.

The ‘interesting investigation’ also saw the rear of the load span more than five metres, not the two metres stated on the form.

The lorries load was three metres over stated allowance. s
