KIND-HEARTED residents filled 91 shoeboxes with donations for this year’s Operation Christmas Child collected by Longbridge Methodist Church.

The annual drive is organised by the Samaritan’s Purse charity and the shoeboxes were brought in by members of the local community, Longbridge Methodist Church and Jellybabies Nursery.

Samaritan’s Purse provide the Christmas parcels of small toys, hygiene items and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in communities around the world.

They are shipped outside to children in other countries affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine and disease.

Each child receives a shoebox gift as an unconditional gift of love based on need, regardless of their background of religion.

This was a tremendous response from the local community.
