Longbridge-based South Community Food Hub delivers 2,000 parcels during coronavirus crisis

IT HAS been all hands to the pump at the South Community Food Hub where more than 2,000 parcels have already been delivered to vulnerable people since the start of the Coronavirus crisis.

Droves of generous donors have called the foodbank, based at Longbridge Methodist Centre, to organise for items to be collected while others have left them at drop-off points in M&S, Sainsbury’s and Rubery’s Morrisons.

There are around 20 volunteers either at the foodbank, collecting items or delivering the emergency parcels to those who need it.

The hub is also desperate for toiletries, including shower gel, shampoo, nappies, toothpaste and toothbrushes.

Anyone who has items they can donate can contact the foodbank via the South Community Food Hub Facebook page or by calling 07514 131666 or 07514 131667.

Drivers will then pick up donated items from doorsteps.
