A LOCAL care service in Rubery raised £860 for MacMillan when it took part in the ‘world’s largest coffee morning’ campaign.

Staff at Embrace Group’s Support Centre pulled out all the stops to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

A small army of bakers produced a magnificent array of cakes, including cupcakes, doughnuts, carrot cake, coffee and walnut cake, flapjacks, chocolate cake, marbled cake, white chocolate cheesecake, lemon curd and fresh cream cake.

The event was hosted as part of The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ – Macmillan Cancer Support’s biggest fundraising event.

There was also a raffle prize draw and a ‘guess the number of spots on the cake’ competition.’

Embrace marketing and communications manager Amy Hyland said: “We were delighted the team put in so much effort to support such a fantastic cause, and we will certainly be looking to get involved in years to come.

“We really respect the work that Macmillan do for people and families looking for care and support, much like our own organisation, so we wanted to raise as much money as we could. We were thrilled with the effort everyone made, it was a great day and we had a lot of fun but the icing on the cake was being able to donate nearly £900 to a fantastic cause.”
