LOCAL groups have secured £100,000 in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund for their ‘Support Bromsgrove’ project.
Support Bromsgrove is a partnership of voluntary, community and public sector groups across the town aiming to help people struggling throughout the pandemic.
It is made up of Bromsgrove and Redditch Network, The Basement Project, NewStarts, Bromsgrove Community Support and Bromsgrove Partnership.
Over the past four months hundreds of individuals and families have received help, including having their prescriptions collected and shopping delivered.
So far the team have responded to nearly 2,000 phone calls, collected over 1,300 prescriptions and provided more than 28,000 meals through food parcels.
Gary Roskell, chief executive of Bromsgrove and Redditch Network, said: “The way partners have pulled together to make this work is incredible.
“Charities, community groups, parish councils, Facebook groups and the local councils, all working towards a common goal.”
The cash will ensure that all members of the team can continue providing assistance as life begins to return to some form of normality for many, but provides additional challenges for others.
