A COMMUNITY campaigner who has lived in Romsley for 20 years will be standing as an independent candidate in the ward where he lives.
As well as standing in the Belbroughton and Romsley ward, Stan Francis will also contest the Romsley Parish Council.
He said: “I retained the local bus service 15 years ago through a petition, enabled funds to keep local elderly social clubs open and instigated broadband in Romsley village through BT.”
Mr Francis is a former Romsley Parish Councillor and special constable and, now retired, worked as a businessmen supplying equipment to NHS hospitals and clinics.
He said among the important issues which needed addressing were sorting out dangerous pot holes and improving security following a number of vehicle thefts.
“I have contacted the Police and Crime Commissioner to request ANPR cameras fitted in the two villages which will give police greater assistance and better security for everyone.
“In Romsley, there is a need for off-street parking which I am currently running a petition on.”
“It’s issues like these that the voter wants first before the promised ones which never get delivered.”
Also standing in Belbroughton and Romsley – where there are two seats up for grabs – are Ros Cooke (Labour Party), Susan Jones (Independent), Karen May (Conservative Party), Simon Nock (Conservative Party) and Gary Prescott (Independent).
