Libby Mae's Little Angels 'overwhelmed' by response to tattoo and piercings day

LIBBY Mae’s Little Angels has said it has been ‘overwhelmed’ today by the response to the tattoo and piercing day to raise funds for the charity.

And the event is still going on ‘until late’.

People started queuing at the Modern Electric Tattoo in Catshill since 11.30am and tattoos and piercings have been carried out all day.

Tattoo artists Paul, Beth, Lukasz and Jay have been offering tattoos at £40 each and piercings for £25 with all proceeds going to Libby Mae’s Little Angels. This has been made possible thanks to sponsors Barber DTS which will be providing tattoo supplies.

Available designs will be announced on the tattooist’s social media prior to the event and there will also be a selection of pink jewellery on offer.

Piercings by Chel have also been available for those from six years old with a parent or legal guardian being present for anyone under 18.

Libby Mae’s Little Angels was set up by Charlotte and Richard Sharratt following Libby Mae’s passing in 2013.

Richard told the Standard: “We can’t believe the response – it has been overwhelming.

“People were queuing from 11.30am and Paul and his team have been working so hard all day.”

Event going on ‘until late’

Tattoos and piercings are still being done now.

People if they want a tattoo or a piercing are being urged to get themselves down to Modern Electric Tattoo in Catshill for a tattoo or piercing to help raise vital funds for local charity Libby Mae’s Little Angels.

There are a range of tattoos available and piercings too, all proceeds going to the cause.

There’s raffles, a cake sale and a merchandise stall there too.

Since then more than £750,000 has been raised for neonatal departments across the Midlands, improving babies’ and families’ first journeys together and helping save newborn lives.

Prior to the event, Charlotte told the Standard: “We are so grateful that Paul Talbot and the wonderful tattooists at Modern Electric have chosen to mark her special day in this way.”

Go PINK 4 Libby

This year, as Libby’s birthday falls on a weekend, the official Go PINK 4 Libby day will be Friday, May 2.

Charlotte added: “We ask everyone to wear something pink in memory of our beautiful daughter and to help spread awareness of our charity.”

Schools, nurseries, colleges, businesses and even the odd celebrity will put on some pink in Libby’s memory.

Charlotte added: “Please get involved. You could hold a pink themed event, a cake sale, a non-uniform day, fancy dress – just make sure it’s pink and send us your photos on social media please.”
