Leaping for joy - Angela gets to celebrate her birthday and hen night on Feb 29th

THERE will be a double celebration for Angela Jones on Saturday when she will toast her leap year birthday on the correct date and hold her hen night.

Angela, who lives in Redditch and works as a pensions administrator at Barnett Waddingham, Bromsgrove, said: “It is quirky to be born on February 29 – although I’m turning 28 I know I’ll have people telling me I’m ‘doing well for seven’.”

Angela usually celebrates on February 28 to keep it in the same month but said, strangely, she received more cards on her leap year birthdays.

It also proved problematic for Angela when she changed her birthday to the 28th on Facebook.

“I got fed up because when it was listed as the 29th it appeared in the ‘upcoming birthdays’ until February 28 and then disappeared.”

But then when Angela decided to return it to the 29th she was unable to.

“Facebook said I couldn’t keep changing it and I had to prove when my birthday was.”

The issue has now been resolved and Angela hopes, when she weds fiance Lewis Bird on April 18, changing her Facebook status to ‘married’ will be a lot simpler.
