KNIFE surrender bins will be placed at locations in Wythall and Hagley as part of the national Anti Knife Crime Week policing campaign.
The bins will be located at Hagley Park tomorrow (May 18) from 1pm to 3pm having already visited Wythall park yesterday.
The week long knife crime campaign, running from May 15 to May 21, will see police raise awareness in the community, particularly with children and young people, about the dangers of carrying a knife.
Anti Knife Crime Week is supported by Operation Sceptre, a national police campaign aimed at ensuring residents’ safety from knife crime in communities around the country.
The knife surrender bins are provided to encourage people to hand in unwanted knives to prevent them getting into the wrong hands and being used in crime.
Safer Neighbourhood Team officers will also collaborate with partner agencies to carry out community sweeps to clear outdoor areas of discarded sharp objects that could potentially be used as weapons.
