THOUGHTFUL pupils from Parkside Middle School spent their half-term creating bags containing essential items for the homeless.
It started when headteacher Natalie Mancini asked all the form tutor groups to complete a challenge of their choice during the school holidays.
Class 8LF decided they would challenge themselves to buy and set up ‘bags for the homeless’.
The pupils worked in small group, each thinking about what a homeless person would be in ‘need’ of and then deciding what to buy, purchasing the items over a few weeks and putting them in donated handbags and rucksacks.
The school then contacted Bromsgrove’s North Worcestershire Basement Project to collect the bags.
The charity’s community fund-raiser Kelly Turner said she was delighted to meet the pupils and collect their donations.
“I was delighted to be invited into Parkside to meet the pupils of 8LF and collect their donations.
“They are a great bunch of kind-hearted young people, who have obviously put a lot of thought into what it might be like to be homeless and the sorts of items people might need.
“It’s fantastic they have pulled together to help other local young people in need. Well done 8LF.”
