A COMMUNITY group is calling on residents, schools, organisations, clubs and businesses to join the Great British September Clean.
Keep Bromsgrove Beautiful (KBB) is hoping as many as possible will join the drive which is organised by Keep Britain Tidy and runs from today until September 27.
The clean-up challenges communities to tidy up their local areas whilst having fun and socially distancing.
The Covid-19 guidelines set out by Keep Britain Tidy advise people either litter-pick alone, household groups or in groups of up to six people.
People need to use their own equipment where possible and if equipment is borrowed it should be sanitised before and after use.
The September clean is replacing the Great British Spring Clean which was due to take place during the lockdown.
When people tidy up their local area they are urged to record their activities online on the KBB Litter Log www.tinyurl.com/KBBLitterLog
During the 2019 Great British Spring Clean, Bromsgrove rolled up its sleeves and almost 300 volunteer hours were given with more than 160 bags of rubbish collected.
Keep Bromsgrove Beautiful founder and chair Sarah Milburn said “The group is really keen to get back to litter picking and keeping our local areas looking great.
“The national scheme will help to raise awareness of the litter problem and we hope to see a change in behaviour.
“KBB encourages everyone to get involved and make a difference.”
