Keep Bromsgrove Beautiful launches campaign to 'adopt' town's railway station

AMBITIOUS plans to ‘adopt’ Bromsgrove Railway Station have been unveiled and volunteers are now being sought to help with the project.

Members of Keep Bromsgrove Beautiful (KBB) are holding a meeting about the scheme at the Ladybird Inn in Aston Fields at 7pm on Thursday, February 27, and are hoping those interested in helping will go along.

Under the nationwide ‘Adopt the Station’ scheme, the group will look to decorate and make the station a more pleasant experience for passengers.

By adopting the station the group will also be able to contribute to its ongoing maintenance.

West Midlands Trains said stations could ‘become beacons of hope for local communities’ and KBB founder Sarah Milburn added the scheme provided volunteers with the opportunity to have a sense of ownership.

She now wants to bring together groups and individuals who would like to support the project.

They can either get involved by volunteering or offering goods or services.

She said: “It’s really exciting we are adopting the station in Bromsgrove but we can’t do it without a team of volunteers.

“We have a number of ideas such as creating designs and signage to promote the local area and improve the look of the station.

“We could also plant flowers, build murals and create art-work but we really want involvement from the community and to hear their ideas.”

Those interested can find out further details at the meeting, by emailing or contacting KBB on its Facebook page.
