A CAMPAIGN has been launched to raise funds to buy Christmas hampers to help families and people in need on Rubery’s Cock Hill estate – one of the most deprived areas in the country, writes Holly Martin.
As part of the drive – organised by Bernie McFall from Trident Reach – a jumble sale will be held at Deelands Hall at 12pm next Saturday, November 13.
Three women – all single mums, including one recently widowed – have worked hard to organise the sale where a variety of items will be on offer, along with a raffle with prizes including a hair by Toni Salon experience and a chocolate bouquet.
They wanted to put the sale on to ‘give back’ for all the support they have received over the years.
Admission to the jumble sale is 20p.
There will also be a fund-raising auction for the Christmas hamper appeal at Deelands Hall at 1pm on December 3.
Lots include a signed Birmingham City FC pennant and a vintage Jennifer Esteban doll called ‘Cleo’.
Anyone wanting to volunteer for the auction should email Bernie at [email protected] or call her on 07734 882237.
