THE NEXT Bromsgrove Repair Cafe will take place from 2pm to 5pm this Saturday, June 4, at All Saints Church Hall.
As it is The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Weekend, the hall will be decorated with bunting, the organisers will be in 1950s fancy dress and there will be a display of tools and radios from the 1950s and 60s.
A spokesperson for the group said: “We will do what we can to take you back to the 1950s, which some of the organisers remember from personal experience.”
Founder member Ros Cooke lived in London in 1952 and witnessed the Coronation (dress rehearsal) from her father’s shoulders.
At the last Bromsgrove Repair Cafe on May 7, 32 items were brought for repair by the 11 repairers.
A mower blade was replaced, a knife was sharpened and the battery in an electric toothbrush was replaced.
Visitors also enjoyed tins of cakes and hot drinks in the cafe while they waited their turn for a repair to be carried out.
