Jewellery haul stolen in Hunnington burglary

A QUANTITY of gold, silver and pearl jewellery has been stolen during a burglary in Hunnington.

The raiders struck at the property in Bromsgrove Road between 1pm and 5.45pm on January 2, forcing entry into the home before escaping with their haul.

Among the items were a gold and black signet ring (pictured), bracelet and Pandora charm bracelets.

Those living in the house were in at the time but fortunately no-one was injured in the incident.

Investigating officer PC Calista Crosfield urged any witnesses or anyone with any information relating to the burglary to call officers on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Following the incident West Mercia Police has offered some security advice which includes urging people to ensure valuable jewellery is locked away, registered and insured for its full value.

Officers also suggest people consider installing a safe and keeping particularly high value items in a bank deposit box.

Descriptions of items should be noted down and photographs taken of the jewellery, set against a plain background and preferably with a ruler next to them to give an idea of size.

Windows and doors should be locked at all times, lights should be left on when people are out to give the impression the home is occupied and burglar alarms and security lighting could be installed as protection and a deterrent.
