CHILDREN from Jellybabies Nursery dressed up today as characters from the world of literature or TV to celebrate World Book Day.
The nursery combined it the day with World Wildlife Day which is also celebrated on March 3.
Children have been learning about wildlife through books and activities based around animals, for example owl babies for older children and Elmer the elephant for our younger children.
One of the purposes of World Wildlife Day is to raise awareness of the dangers which threaten the survival of many animals around the world.
The children have also been learning about how they can protect wildlife and how the effects of climate change are endangering animals.
All of the children received a £1 book token, which they can exchange for a free book.
Nursery manager Jacqueline Walker said: “This is a lovely fun way for the children to learn early literacy skills and also about the world around them.”
