Intrepid steeplejacks enjoy bird's-eye view of Bromsgrove from St John's Church spire

TWO intrepid steeplejacks enjoyed a bird’s-eye view over Bromsgrove from the top of the spire at St John’s Church this morning (Thursday).

The team from Dawson Steeplejacks were carrying out repairs to the stone work close to the top of the spire, which had been identified during a routine check of the ancient building in the Autumn.

Rev Ray Khan, vicar of St John’s, said: “We have such a beautiful building in St John’s church, but its age means that we must keep a watchful eye on it at all times, and carry out the necessary repairs as soon as they arise.”

The Friends of St John’s organise community events to support the ongoing needs of the building.

Chairman Jo Slade said “Friends are extremely grateful for the support we received which enables us to finance these minor projects as they come along. We would be thrilled to hear from anyone who would like to further support the work we do to keep our ancient heritage building safe and secure.”
