THE toy collection point at the Bromsgrove Rugby Club was hailed an ‘incredible success’, with nearly 200 children receiving a present this Christmas.

All toys collected at the club were used to populate a pop-up shop organised by New Start, where adults feeling the pinch this Christmas can choose toys for their children.

One family who benefited from the toys donated said: “I came in this morning, and I just wanted to say thank you for these gifts – it has been a massive help.”

Bromsgrove’s generosity: Some of the toys set up in the New Start pop-up shop. s

In previous years hundreds of brand-new gifts and around nine carloads were donated, from little stocking fillers to bigger presents, and this year has been no different.

Jayne Tingle, organiser and founder of the appeal, added: “The sheer kindness and generosity of the Bromsgrove community shone through once again, and all of your donations are making a huge difference to the most in need this Christmas.”

Marion Kenyon, chief executive of New Start, added: “A huge thank you to all those who donated toys ta the rugby club, businesses who collected and donated and all the individuals who either dropped toys in Lidl or at one of our sites.”
