RESIDENTS turned out in force for the latest Big Frankley Spring Clean event.

Participants grabbed bags and litter-pickers, courtesy of the New Frankley Parish Council, and tidied up Princess Diana Walk.

A spokesperson for the Frankley Litter Busters which carried out the clean-up thanked everyone who took part in the event.

And they added: “Extra special credit goes to our lovely Scottish hero Kate Strachan for organising this whole event.

“You are fantastic.”

Coun Simon Morrall, who joined in with the clean and praised the group for their efforts, said: “Thank you to all residents who came out to take part in the big spring clean alongside Princess Diana walk.

“It really is quite shocking how filthy this gets – I remember only two years ago we cleaned here.

“It was disappointing to see it so horrible again.”

Joining the Rubery Wombles

This is one of a number of spring clean events taking place in the area in the coming weeks.

On day one, the Frankley Litter Busters were joined by the Rubery Wombles when 21 bags of rubbish – some 380kg – were collected.

The organisers of that pick thanked Sam for driving the van and picking up bags, Kate and Archie, Paul, Bonnie, Jean, Mick, Tannie and William Gay from CleanupUK.
