AROUND 200 people turned out for Rubery’s annual Christmas lights switch-on which took place yesterday (Saturday).
Prior to the illumination, there was an afternoon of festive fun, including an appearance from Father Christmas.

Entertainment included live music from the Snow Sisters and Viva La Diva, alongside carol singers and choirs.
Visitors enjoyed food, beverage, and Christmas stalls, perfect for picking up seasonal treats and gifts.

Organiser Tony Maslen thanked everyone who attended, performed and worked behind the scenes to make sure everything went well.
Bromsgrove District Council Chairman, Coun Sam Evans, attended the event, along with Coun Esther Gray.
Coun Evans gave a speech before the big countdown and switch-on,

The Lights of Love Tree.
Afterwards, he told the Standard: “A huge thank you to everyone who took part in Rubery’s Christmas Lights switch-on and the festive fun on New Road.
“Despite some rain earlier in the day it was good that it held off in time for the switch-on.”
