THE CROWDS turned out for this year’s Catshill village Christmas lights switch-on.
The fun got under way at 3pm with the Catshill Baptist Christmas Band, which performed several times during the evening.
They were followed by the Chadsgrove School Choir then came the fabulous Vinny Peculiar, Catshill’s home-grown rockstar who has 14 albums to his name. He performed several songs that had been inspired by growing up in his home village as an inspiration.
Then came Stars Dance Academy followed by The Chloe May’s dancers.
The excitement reached fever pitch when Father Christmas appeared with his helpers, Elsa from ‘Frozen’ and his Head Elf. The delighted children then all got a chance to meet them.
The lights were switched on at 5.15pm by Lilly, Isabelle and Evelyn, pupils from Catshill Middle School and Frankie, Hannah and Oakley from Catshill First School, who had all won a competition to be chosen to push the plunger.
Finally the night was rounded off by performances from Catshill Methodist Choir and the choir from Fairfield First School.
The event, which was bigger and better than last year, was hailed a great success by everyone from the village who attended.
The lights switch-on was organised by Catshill and North Marlbrook Parish Council and Bromsgrove District Councillor Shirley Webb.
