AN IMPECCABLY observed one-minute silence took place in Catshill last night to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.

The event was organised as part of the National Moment of Reflection in memory of the UK’s longest ever reigning monarch. People all over the UK fell silent at 8pm.

The Queen has been lying in state at Westminster Hall for the past five days with hundreds of thousands of people filing past her coffin during that time.

Today she will be taken from there to Westminster Abbey where her state funeral takes place at 11am.
