A SEVERE fire has broken out at an agricultural unit in Hanbury which was raided by police on Wednesday.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed a one-storey building was ‘well alight’ and there were four crews in attendance.

Among them were firefighters from Bromsgrove and Droitwich and water carriers from Evesham and Peterchurch.

They have been battling the blaze which broke out around 10.16am at the one-storey 7m by 11m building. The cause of the fire is yet unknown.

West Mercia Police confirmed officers were also in attendance but the fire service was leading on the incident.

We reported earlier in the week how 500 cannabis plants, with a street value of £410,000, were discovered by police on Wednesday.

Officers from South Worcestershire Neighbourhood Crime Fighting Team (NCFT) carried out the swoop, supported by the force’s Task Force and Droitwich Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT).

Two men have since been charged with the production of cannabis (a class B drug) and abstracting electricity.
