Imitation handgun, blank ammunition and drugs seized in Northfield raid

AN IMITATION handgun, several bags of cannabis, drugs paraphernalia and 50 rounds of blank ammunition were seized in Northfield.

The imitation pistol – a Bruni model 92 – was stashed under a bed at the property in Cedar Drive.

Officers from West Midlands Police’s Gangs Unit carried out the raid at 7am yesterday morning.

A 25-year-old was spoken to at the address and is under investigation.

Police will interview him at a later date.

Det Sgt Nick McCullough said: “It’s a convincing replica weapon in terms of appearance, size and weight.

“People would undoubtedly believe this to be the genuine article if they were faced with it.”

The gun will now be sent for forensic analysis by ballistics experts.

“Weapons like this are illegal in the UK and anyone in possession of a blank firing pistol may find themselves being arrested and potentially jailed,” added DS McCullough.
