Husband and wife from Cofton Hackett named Slimming World 'Couple of the Year'

Bromsgrove Editorial 14th Apr, 2018 Updated: 14th Apr, 2018

A HUSBAND and wife from Cofton Hackett have been voted Slimming World UK’s 2018 Couple of the Year, writes Tom Banner.

Paul and Debbie Wiggett, from the Lickey End Slimming World Group, shed more than 12st between them since May last year and fellow slimmers voted for them to take the award.

Paul, who lost more than 7st, said: “When we first joined Slimming World we couldn’t believe how much food we could eat and still lose weight.

“Making small changes to the way we cooked our meals meant we could still enjoy all of our favourites like spaghetti bolognese.

“We love sharing our new recipes with family and friends, too. People are always surprised to learn they’re good for them.”

The couple have also been more active, getting out and about on long walks. Debbie was full of praise for her fellow slimmers who also offered them support, suggested new ideas and urged them not to give up.

“I don’t think we could have achieved all we have without the support of our consultant Paula and the rest of the Lickey End group.”

Paula Hooper, who runs the Lickey End group, said: “Paul and Debbie are living proof slimmers are more successful when they lose weight together and get support and motivation from others along their journey.

“Seeing Paul and Debbie’s weight come down week after week has been a joy. They’re a real inspiration to the rest of the group, including me.”

The Lickey End group meet at the Lickey End Social Club every Wednesday at 10am. For more on Slimming World, visit www.slimmingworld.co.uk or call Paula on 07900 997303.
