PEOPLE of all ages are being urged to enjoy Bromsgrove’s open spaces as part of Love Parks Week which starts today (Friday) and runs until next Sunday, August 6.

Bromsgrove District Council said, from lovely lakes and super slides to extraordinary events and fantastic flowers, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

The authority has signed up to Keep Britain Tidy’s annual campaign which celebrates parks, green spaces and the dedicated volunteers and workers who look after them.

Coun Steve Colella, whose portfolio covers parks, said: “Our parks provide a place for people of all ages to congregate whether it’s to compete with friends on one of our courts, enjoy a picnic with friends and family or just walk the dog.

“We also organise a host of events throughout the year providing more free fun for everyone.”

A fun-packed council programme of events at Sanders Park coincides with Love Parks Week.

From 11am to 4pm tomorrow (Saturday) there will be a green fun day, celebrating all things sustainable and from 2.30pm to 4.30pm on Sunday, July 30, AD Concert Band will perform at the Jubilee Bandstand.

At the Circus Kaos Workshops – from 12pm to 4pm on every Tuesday in August – people of all ages can find lots of equipment to play with, learn and have fun on with help from Steve Kaos.

Angie Mack’s Hula Hoop Shows run at 12pm, 1.30pm and 3pm on Wednesday, August 2, and Dougie the Dino will be at Sanders Park at 12pm, 1.30pm and 3pm on Thursday, August 2.

The Black Country Big Band will perform at the Jubilee Bandstand from 2.30pm to 4.30pm next Sunday, August 6 and Sanders Park also hosts the timed 2k Junior Parkruns 2k at 9am every Sunday.

Coun Colella added: “Sometimes we forget what’s on our doorstep so I hope Love Parks Week reminds residents to visit one of our parks and enjoy what’s on offer.”
