HOME Instead Redditch and Bromsgrove will be providing employees with additional dementia training from the Alzheimer’s Society this year.

As of June dementia is now the leading cause of death in the UK according to the office for national statistics with around 900,000 people living with the condition.

Many of Home Instead’s home care professionals are City & Guilds qualified in dementia training and the offer has now been expanded to all its office employees.

Employees will be able to take part in Champions in Dementia Care which has been developed and delivered by the Alzheimer’s Society.

The training will help employees to support and plan care for clients living with dementia.

Home Instead Redditch’s Gemma Allbutt said: “This new training recognises the prevalence of dementia across the UK and the need for us as leaders in the home care industry to continue taking steps in supporting those living with dementia.

“One person develops dementia every three minutes in the UK, so it is vital that we also adapt as a community to ensure we are fully inclusive to those with the condition”.

“This training will give our team a real boost in dementia expertise that can be extended into our wider community involvement and charitable activities across Redditch and surrounding areas”.
