AUDIENCES are being taken onto the high seas at Droitwich’s Norbury Theatre with Astwood Bank Operatic Society’s HMS Pinafore.

The run of the classic Gilbert and Sullivan show got under way at the venue this week and the final performances are at 7.30pm tonight and tomorrow (Friday and Saturday) with a 2.30pm matinee tomorrow.

The story takes place on board the HMS Pinafore Royal Navy ship where the captain’s daughter Josephine is in love with sailor Ralph Rackstraw.

Her father wants her to marry Sir Joseph Porter, the First Lord of the Admiralty but he, realising how the pair feel, encourages them to go with their hearts, leading to an elopement plan being hatched.

Tickets which are £15 (£10 for under 16s) are available by emailing [email protected] or by visiting norburytheatre.co.uk – alternatively, call the Norbury Theatre box office on 01905 770154.
