'He's coming home' - Bromsgrove Swimming Club unveils new head coach

Bromsgrove Editorial 19th Feb, 2023   0

A NEW head coach has been unveiled at Bromsgrove Swimming Club.

Jacob Elliott takes up the role after rising through the ranks in elite swimming before returning to his former club to coach.

Jacob’s swim philosophy is centred on ‘enjoying the journey’ and he has experienced high-performance environments at Ellesmere College Titans and the University of Birmingham.

The knowledge and skills he has picked up will enable Bromsgrove’s swimmers to undertake exceptional preparation before races.

He has also trained alongside Commonwealth and Olympic swimmers and will bring fresh insight into the latest coaching techniques.

Jacob started swimming competitively for Bromsgrove Swimming Club at the age of 11 and has competed both abroad and in national and British Championships, medalling in his favourite stroke – breaststroke.

He said his passion for his hometown club helped him prepare for elite swimming.

“Being supported by coaches who have seen you grow up in the sport gave me the confidence to dig deep into what matters most – belief that you can achieve if you are prepared to give your best.”

Jacob retired from competitive swimming in July last year, having won the Worcestershire cups across the 50, 100 and 200m Open Breaststroke events.

He is a qualified L2 Swim Coach and achieved Triple Distinction in L3 Performance Sport.

He currently also works as an on-call firefighter.
