HEARTLESS attackers have gone into a farmer’s field in Bromsgrove and cruelly chopped the heads off seven sheep.

The heads were discovered by another farmer in a neighbouring field off Warbage Lane in Dodford.

It is believed the incident happened between 8.30pm last Thursday and midday on Friday.

The attackers have gone in and appear – due to the clean nature of the cut – to have cut off the animals’ heads with some kind of sword.

The bodies of the sheep were taken and the heads were left in the field.

West Mercia Police specialist Rural Crime Officers attended the scene and local officers are increasing their patrols in the area.

Insp Richard Field said “We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area at the time, as well as from anyone who has been offered cheap meat for sale.

“There are potential health risks of consuming meat which isn’t from a reputable sources.

“Incidents like this cost us all money in the long run and impact our hard working farmers who provide vital produce into our communities.”

Witnesses or anyone with information should call PC Scott on 07870 160860, email details to [email protected] or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
