Head to car boot sale and help raise funds for Stoke Prior First School's new playground

THE FUND-RAISING car boot sale this Sunday, April 30, at Stoke Prior Sports and Social Club will give some the chance to grab a bargain and others the opportunity to declutter.

The event will raise funds towards a new playground at Stoke Prior First School.

The School Council has been working with all the children in school to decide on what type of play equipment to choose and, after lots of discussions and surveying, they have opted for a large jungle style climbing frame and new climbing wall.

The playground will cost around £13,000 to complete and all the children are very excited about the prospect of this new equipment.

Sophie from The PTA said: “We are hoping for it to be built before the end of the summer term.

“Our fundraisers are especially important and, with school budgets really are under immense pressure, the support of our parents and community through the PTAs events is crucial.

“This playground will bring such a benefit and enjoyment to the children of Stoke Prior First School and this will only happen with your support.”

School children will also be selling pre-loved fancy dress costumes and school shoes which have all been donated to the cause.

Stoke Prior First School headteacher Leigh Satchwell said: “The children have designed and chosen some really fun jungle gym and climbing equipment for our playground which will be a fantastic addition for them to play on for years to come.”

On the day, along with stalls, there will be an ice cream van, bouncy castle, Pizza Heaven van and drinks available from the club.

Sophie added: “We are hoping for great weather and for the community to join us to help raise money for such an amazing school.”

And Ms Satchwell said: “The PTA and our children at school have been working really hard to raise money towards the project, and in March they all took part in a sponsored reading marathon which raised over £2,400 – amazing.

“We’re hoping the car boot sale will add to the pot this weekend and we’ll soon be able to buy the equipment.”

Stoke Prior First School would like to thank everyone for their support so far, with 64 pitches already booked, raising around £325.

Sellers can grab themselves a pitch for £5 for cars and £8 for vans in advance or £10 on the day – although there is no guarantee of a pitch on the day if they are all taken.

Set up starts at 9am and the sale is open to the public from 10am.

Anyone wanting to book a pitch should call Sophie on 07508 122650.
