Hanbury First School children turn reporters after 'finding a dinosaur egg in garden'

BUDDING news hounds from Hanbury C of E First School’s reception class wanted to contact their favourite local newspaper – the Bromsgrove and Droitwich Standard – about an egg-citing story after discovering a dinosaur egg in the school’s garden.

The children made a cosy nest to protect the egg and while they had waited for it to hatch they made salt dough fossils and some Jurassic artwork out of natural materials.

To their surprise the egg hatched overnight so they took to the picturesque Hanbury countryside in search of the hatchling and wrote their own version of ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ with a dinosaur twist.

The children asked their teacher Mrs Ball if they could tell the newspapers all about the dinosaur egg and where their pet might have gone.

So, in true journalist style, they wrote their own reports on what had been happening in Hanbury.
