A DEVELOPER has been given permission to build 688 homes in Longbridge.
Vistry has joined forces with Sigma and Bromford to build the properties on a section of the former MG Rover works.
The partnership between Vistry and Bromford, one of the UK’s largest associations, will deliver 250 of the homes, ensuring more than 40 per cent of the development will be affordable housing – double Birmingham City Council’s 20 per cent local policy requirement.

Sigma Capital Group, which provides build-to-rent properties, has joined the Vistry partnership to own and manage 215 private rental properties.
The remaining 197 will be available on the open market.
The final 26 properties will be offered as ‘first homes’, ensuring the development offers a broad range of housing choices.

The development will have a focus on sustainability, featuring air source heat pumps and PV panels for renewable electricity. Wastewater recovery systems will minimise water usage.
The homes will be manufactured off-site using open panel timber frames from the Vistry Works East Midlands factory in Leicestershire meaning their construction emits less CO2 equivalent that traditional brick-and-block houses.
