Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid writes for the Standard.
SINCE my last column for the Bromsgrove Standard, we have seen Vladimir Putin launch an unprovoked and unjustifiable invasion of Ukraine.
The UK has been working with our allies to ensure he fails in his efforts.
It is already clear that he has gravely miscalculated, and he should be in doubt that we intend to keep the pressure up.
Across the country and in Bromsgrove District, people have come together to offer their support and solidarity to the Ukrainian people. It has been great to meet some of the residents offering support and I know the generosity of the local community will continue in earnest.
On Monday, the Homes for Ukraine Scheme was launched – with 44,000 people signing up within the first five hours.
The courage shown by the Ukrainian people in the face of devastation caused by the invasion of their country is nothing short of remarkable – and if able, I urge people to consider becoming sponsors.
In local news, I am extremely pleased to announce the return of my Bromsgrove Jobs Fair from 10am to 12pm on April 22 at North Bromsgrove High School.
The Fair has been a fantastic success in the past and I am delighted exhibitors and attendees will be able to meet in person once again.
Whether you’re looking for a job that’s full-time, part time, a change of career or an apprenticeship, I would be delighted to see you at the event.
There really is something for everyone.
As ever, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if I can be of any assistance to my constituents.
