BUSINESSES and retailers in Bromsgrove now have access to a new grant fund aimed at boosting footfall and entrepreneurship in the town.
Bromsgrove District Council’s Centres Enhancement Grant Scheme supported by the governments UK Shared Prosperity Fund gives businesses an opportunity to apply for funding to improve shop frontages and set up new vacant units.
Aims of the fund include boosting footfall, stimulating entrepreneurship, creating new jobs, and enhancing the sustainability of businesses.
The grant is available to existing and prospective independent retailers who can bid for up to £10,000 for a vacant unit and £5,000 for an occupied unit, depending on their eligibility and the project put forward.
Deputy leader and portfolio holder for economic development and regeneration, Councillor Sue Baxter, said: “With everyday costs rising, improvement works or moving to new premises can feel like a pipe dream for many small businesses.
“Thanks to this UKSPF funding, local independent retailers can make their dreams a reality, reducing the number of vacant properties and breathing new life across the whole of Bromsgrove District, in turn encouraging more people to visit, and boosting the local economy.
“It’s a win-win for everyone! It’s only available to apply for until mid-Feb though so if you have an idea for your business, please get in touch asap.”
Priority will be given to properties located within Bromsgrove town centre and Rubery village but will also be considered for applications from Alvechurch village, Aston Fields, Barnt Green, Catshill, Hagley, and Wythall as well.
The closing date for applications is 16th February 2024.
