BUDDING bards and wannabe writers are being urged to join staff at Bromsgrove Library on Thursday, October 7, to celebrate National Poetry Day.

A host of activities have been organised, including dramatic readings from local poets such as Pat Leighton and WORDS, a thought-provoking workshop with Liam Christopher and a chance to see the Maz Broadcast’s film Bromsgrove Poets, followed by a post screening discussion.

Those wanting to get creative can submit a poem for a special display at the library or book a slot to perform some of their own poetry.

A collective poem will also be written throughout the week by library users and visitors, fostering togetherness as part of the situation.

Everyone who wants to contribute a line can do so and the finished version will be revealed at the end of the week.

Library manager Nicki Hitchcock said: “We are looking forward to holding our first Poetry Day event at Bromsgrove Library to celebrate local poets and hope the community will join us and get involved.”

If you are unable to attend fear not! Bromsgrove Library has a tantalising collection of poetry from staple classics to local poets. They also offer a Poetry bubble where poetry enthusiasts can discuss the month’s poetry selection.
