GENEROUS football fans attending the Southern League match between Bromsgrove Sporting and Royston Town donated 160 items for the Foodbank at Catshill Baptist Church.

The organisation distributes emergency food parcels to people in need who live in the district and opens between 10am and midday every Wednesday.

It was launched by husband and wife Tony and Sue Hawkes five years ago but is now run by Keith and Jackie Medler.

Jackie said everyone at the foodbank was grateful for the support from their local football club and wished the Rouslers well for the rest of the season.

Phil Baker from Bromsgrove Sporting thanked everyone who donated items.

“We were delighted with the amount donated – our fans have been so generous towards those less fortunate.”

The items will be added to the Christmas hampers which are due to go out next week.

The deadline for the Christmas donations is tomorrow (Wednesday).

Items can be between dropped off at Catshill Baptist Church between 10am and midday.
