A FUND-RAISING concert to raise cash for the people of Ukraine fleeing their war-torn country will take place at Bromsgrove’s St John’s Church at 7pm next Saturday, March 26.

Members of the Bromsgrove Community, Barnt Green and St John’s Church Choirs, along with the Orchestra of St John and students from North Bromsgrove High School will perform the hour-long show.

Admission to the ‘Love Changes Everything’ event is free but donations will be collected for the UK’s DEC (Disasters and Emergency Committee) Ukraine Humanitarian appeal.

As well as the musical performances, there will be a period of quiet reflection and a prayer for peace.

Organisers Rosie Hamilton, Ruth Henley and Ray Khan, vicar of Bromsgrove’s St John’s Church, are hoping that as many people as possible will go along.

Rev Khan said: “Many of us have watched on in horror as events in Ukraine have unfolded over the last three weeks.

“It’s now the fastest growing refugee crisis since the Second World War and we hope that local residents will come along and show their support for those affected.”

The 13 DEC charities are working to meet the immediate needs of people fleeing with food, water and medical assistance and trauma care.

The UK Government is match-funding donations.

Anyone unable to attend the concert but would like to donate can visit justgiving.com/fundraising/stjohnschurchbromsgrove and donate there.
