A CALL for organisers to apply for funding to support the hosting of heritage events in Bromsgrove is being made by the town’s council.
Bromsgrove District Council has once again started the process to compile all the Heritage Open Days events taking place in the borough.
Every year, the National Trust and National Lottery Heritage Fund come together to support local heritage organisations put on events under the Heritage Open Days banner.
This year the theme is Architecture: Buildings, Bridges, and Beehives – but events do not necessarily have to tightly relate to the theme.
In Bromsgrove, the council’s Leisure and Culture team will support local event holders to then promote and market activities as part of the collective offering in the area.
Cabinet member for leisure and climate change, councillor Bernard McEldowney, said: “Heritage Open Days is an excellent initiative that has run for many years, each year I am excited to see the events which are organised by people in our local communities and centres.
“Seeing all those events come together to form the Redditch and Bromsgrove Heritage Open Days booklet is always such an exciting time. I am grateful to all the volunteers who wore every year to make it possible.”
Heritage Open Days asks organisers to hold free events at places which either do not typically hold any events or which are usually chargeable.
For 10 days, From September 12 to 21, the festival aims to reduce barriers to access for our residents to enjoy the heritage and culture Bromsgrove has to offer.
This year there is the opportunity to apply for £350 of funding to put on an event. Funds aim to support organisers who have never hosted an event before and champion under-represented history.
