Friends of Balaam's Wood to host harvest Wassail in Frankley

Bromsgrove Editorial 17th Jan, 2024   0

THE Friends of Balaam’s Wood will be hosting their annual Wassail later in January.

This new year tradition refers to the ancient custom of visiting orchards in cider-producing regions of England, reciting incantations or spells and singing to the trees to promote a good harvest for the coming year.

The group’s Wassail will be performed in the Community Orchard on Arden Road, Rubery on January 20, 2024.

The wassail will begin at 3pm with songs, noise making and special guests – Black Adder Morris Dancers.

Visitors can attend a free workshop to make an ivy crown and noise maker ahead of the event at 1pm.
