Free summer activities for young people in Bromsgrove every Thursday evening

Bromsgrove Editorial 24th Jun, 2021   0

FREE summer sports, games, skating and chillout sessions will take place for young people in Bromsgrove town centre.

The town’s Youth and Community Hub is inviting 11 to 18-year-olds to join them for games on The Rec, near Asda, and relax in the open air on the roof of the Churchfields car park where there will be skate ramps and rails every Thursday from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.

Bromsgrove District Council has worked with the the hub to make the spaces available and it means the top level of the car park will be shut on Thursday afternoons.

Hub co-ordinator Saz Mulhall said: “Everyone is welcome – no matter what you’re interested in just come and give it a try because you’re invited.

“There will be all sorts of activities, including with sports coaches on the field and upstairs at the car park.”

Participants do not need to register and can just turn up.

Coun Helen Jones, who worked to enable the sessions in her ‘youth lead’ role at Bromsgrove District Council, said:

“When you ask young people, they just want stuff to do near them.

“That’s why we have worked together here to make some space available for the Hub to provide these activities, which as well as being fun provide that bit of organised structure for everyone to have a good time.”
