Free sewing sessions for parents at this month's Bromsgrove Repair Cafe

Bromsgrove Editorial 5th Aug, 2022   0

THIS MONTH’S Bromsgrove Repair Cafe which takes place at All Saints Church Hall, Burcot Lane, will also offer hand-sewing classes for beginners.

From 3.45pm to 4.45pm this Saturday, August 6, people can learn how to alter trousers and skirts and how to sew on buttons.

The sewing scheme, the brainchild of Marion Kenyon from NewStarts who is also on the Bromsgrove Repair Cafe committee, is aimed at parents who are struggling to afford new school uniforms ahead of pupils going back to school next month.

Ros Cooke from the Repair Cafe said: “In this way parents can extend the life of existing uniform or buy one size too big and take these up.”

And to get the scheme off to a great start, Bromsgrove Asda has given away 16 free sewing kits to the organisers to pass onto the parents.

The free hand-sewing classes will also take place at the next repair cafe on September 3.

To book places, call Ros Cooke on 07804 251731.
