RESIDENTS feeling inspired to get fitter after a summer filled with lots of major sporting events are being encouraged to take up community exercise classes by the councils Sports Development Team.
From the Lionesses winning the Women’s 2022 Euros to Wimbledon and the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, it has already been an exciting summer of major events which often encourages viewers to want to improve their own activity levels, get fitter and be healthier.
The council’s Sports Development Team are urging more people to take up community exercise classes as a first step towards increasing their fitness.
The team offers activities such as active seniors, walks for health, Strong and Steady, Joint Effort and other sessions aimed at specific health conditions or enhancing weight loss.
All community exercise classes will be absolutely free for the first two weeks of September.
Coun Shirley Webb, Bromsgrove District Council’s portfolio holder for health and wellbeing, said: “Our community exercise sessions are designed for people who are uncomfortable with or unable to access privately run exercise sessions in the usual way, but want to take the first steps towards becoming healthier.”
She added there were sessions to suit everyone’s needs and a wide variety of activities to try out.
