Four fire crews battled blaze at old Rednal Social Club

FOUR fire crews battled a blaze at the former Rednal Social Club around 5.30pm yesterday evening.

Hereford and Worcester Firefighters from Bromsgrove and Redditch were joined by West Midlands crews from Northfield and Kings Norton.

The fire had broken out in the bar area of the disused building.

The stretch of Barnt Green Road was closed is between the Cofton Hackett island and Ten Ashes road and drivers wre urged to avoid the area and find alternative routes.

Siix firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two water jets to extinguish the flames and positive pressure ventilation to clear the smoke logging.

Fortunately, there were no casualties




At 8pm, after the blaze was extinguished and the area was checked, firefighters left.
