Foundation to be set up in memory of Cody Fisher aims to tackle knife crime

A FOUNDATION is set to be set up in the name of footballer Cody Fisher by his loved ones to help better tackle knife crime so others ‘won’t have to walk in their shoes.’

The CF3 anti-knife crime foundation will aim to get ‘Cody’s Law’ passed in Parliament to ensure every club and large-capacity pub have mandatory walk-through metal detectors and bleed kits.

The 23-year-old, who previously played for Bromsgrove Sporting, was stabbed to death at the Crane nightclub in Digbeth on Boxing Day.

The foundation’s crowdfunder page is aimed at raising £10,000 by March 26, and over £150 has been donated so far.

If Cody’s Law is passed, donations will be distributed into communities for anti-knife crime schemes, to help families and educate children.

Cody’s mum Tracey said the foundation would help ensure no more families had to go through the pain and heartbreak they have endured.

“My son was the most amazing multi-talented young man, kind, caring handsome and the purest soul that inspired so many people, especially the children he worked with.

“He was truly my best friend, my life sentence will never end, but this horrific crime must so fewer parents and families have to walk in our shoes.

“Making walk-through metal detectors and bleed kits mandatory will allow people to know their loved ones will  be safe and no harm will come to them on their nights out.”

Bromsgrove Sporting have been fund-raising for the CF3 foundation, generating £920 through raffle sales and collection buckets.

The Rouslers also helped to raise £1,433 through a tribute shirt auction.

The special white shirts were worn during Bromsgrove’s match against Stratford Town, who Cody was on the books for this season.

Sporting said it would continue to raise funds for the CF3 foundation and would enable others to buy a Cody tribute shirt.
