BUILDING supplies company MKM has officially opened its 100th branch in Bromsgrove.

The ribbon was cut at the Buntsford Drive store by MKM’s joint founder David Kilburn along with the firms CEO Kate Tinsley.

Hundreds of customers turned up for the ceremony, with the special guest being former Aston Villa forward Dion Dublin, while Town Crier Kevin Ward provided entertainment.

And Andy Bennett from The Harry Bennett Foundation, a charity set up in memory of his teenage son,  also attended the event.

The Bromsgrove branch will be working with local charities to help with their fundraising activities, including the Harry Bennett foundation, who were presented with a £1,500 cheque on behalf of MKM.

MKM started in Hull 27 years ago with just five staff and now has over 2,500 employees and branches across the UK.

Rob Searl, Co-Branch Director at MKM Bromsgrove, said: “We are delighted to welcome Dion Dublin, Kevin Ward and the Harry Bennett Foundation down to the branch to kick-off celebrations.

“We look forward to supporting the local community, whatever type of project they are working on.”

Malcolm Hawley, Co-Branch Director at MKM Bromsgrove added: “We are a local, independent business, run by local people, that’s why it’s important to us to support local good causes.

“The Harry Bennett Foundation is a charity that is close to the hearts of our community and one that we are proud to support.”
