Food Standard Agency's warning to Waitrose shoppers over chocolate recall

WAITROSE has recalled four types of luxury chocolate bars over fears they may contain pieces of plastic.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said the 85g Waitrose bars, which have a best before date of July 2018, could represent a safety risk and are urging customers not to eat them.

The affected bars include white chocolate, white chocolate with matcha tea and pistachio, milk chocolate with pistachio, almond and hazelnut and milk chocolate with feuilletine and sea salt, the FSA said.

In a statement, Waitrose said: “We are recalling the products, as there is the potential that a small number of bars may be contaminated with pieces of plastic. Customers who have purchased any of the named products should not consume them, but return them to Waitrose for a full refund.”

Customers who bought the affected chocolate bars can call Waitrose on 0800 188884.
